What made you decide to start Aluma together?

Tracy: We have been best friends for over 13 years. I have witnessed Lyndsay’s entire career. Lyndsay's desire to be autonomous in this field after doing what she's done for so long really drove this entire concept. It's watching her kind with her myriad of experiences at different medical spas and wanting to be autonomous.

Why is it important that we help aesthetic injectors with the business side of things?

Lyndsay: I was kind of doing it all, right? So I was following up with all my patients. I was booking my appointments and I, this is like what he saw the whole entire time. I was just texting on my phone.

So it was hard. You know, not being able to do what I love, which is injecting and growing my business. Because that's kind of what we do best as injectors. We're in front of our patients. We're injecting, we're learning, and we're doing all of these things that we love.

But then also as business owners, we have to do these backend things like following up with patients, booking the appointments, confirming the appointments, even in the room, and doing before and after photos. But then not having time and being able to talk to our patients.

But with Aluma, you have a team behind you. A team that is pushing that envelope for you and you're growing.

Aluma is not just a team of people working behind you. It's like a team of other badass injectors who you could like to call and be like, ‘Hey, I have this complication’. Or you could call Dr. Mike, who is a huge mentor for me and the other girls. It let’s us focus on what we love to do and delegate out the rest.

What are some of your goals for Aluma injectors?

Lyndsay: Whether they're hyping each other up because they had an amazing result or someone's going on vacation, we're like, yes, girl. Work-life balance on your life. We're hyping each other up on all aspects of everything. We actually have a few girls on the team who like work two weeks and then vacation a week and work two weeks and I'm always like, yes! The goal is that work-life balance.

What are your goals for Aluma clients?

Lyndsay: Honestly, the best thing that we could do on the back end, all of us behind the scenes making Aluma happen every day is to take what we can off of injector's plates so that they can be in clinic doing what they do best. Everything that we do is focused on patient outcomes.

Can you break down the vetting process? What do you look for in an injector?

Tracy: Everything we're looking for is someone who's ready. So many great injectors work at a medical spa that is how it all begins.

Everybody, it's like rising tides, right? But we need to make sure, and we have a responsibility that we're not opening up these practices for new injectors. There is a space for them, and they need to get their bearings and get their seasonality first. We need to learn all of the tips and tricks.

We want everyone to walk around looking like a billboard for our work. How well you think you're doing and patient safety is so important. So we are sure that everybody that comes on to Aluma is.

How have you seen Aluma’s back-end processes create significant changes in revenue for your injectors?

Tracy: What normally happens when you bog yourself down with the laundry list of responsibilities is the time that you're actually able to be with patients injecting in clinic.

For example, every second that you're running payroll, approving time cards, scheduling patients, answering the phone, calling people back, checking up on patients. There's a certain amount of that that can be delegated out and when. That happens, and the exchange is freedom. Freedom and time.

So now that's a whole extra day that this injector. So say that these were the responsibilities. You delegate them out. You take this, you take this, and you take this, and now you're able to have more time to do what you enjoy most.

What are your goals for the future? What would you like to see?

Tracy: Laying a foundation that we can build the house upon.

So what we do every day is to make sure that the foundation is sturdy, is strong, and what we want to do with Aluma and just in general for this year and the years to come, and the vision that we have collectively on our team is how can we make this entire industry level up? How can we challenge it?

How can we poke at it and how can we make it better? We're only as strong as, the newest injector in the industry. So what we want to do is invite space for them too.

We set up trainings where everyone's exchanging ideas and talking about complications and just all of the things that they've done that's changed their practice, if we can cultivate that community, yes, it's going to be that rising tide that lifts all the ships, those new injectors included.

And I think that that's where we see this headed and what we want to do that expands beyond where we are.

What sets Aluma apart from the competition?

Lyndsay: I think the community. It is so important even more than what you're bringing in revenue-wise or the following that you have. We wanna make sure that you're able to build your business, but also we wanna make sure that you want to help the industry as well and you want to share your tips and tricks and you're not holding them all in and that you're kind of a cheerleader for everybody.

So our community. All of the girls on our team are just amazing. They have that confidence. They're there in their career, they made it and they've done themselves and they're just wildly successful in their own right. So they don't mind sharing tips and tricks we share with each other all of the time.

With this being the entrepreneurial injectors club, can both of you give us one piece of business advice that has stuck with you most in your journey?

Tracy: My best piece of advice is actually really simple. You don't have to be a jack of all trades. You heard it here first. Do find out the things that you are really good at, the things if you are an injector that you do. Really well that bring you joy that you just wanna absolutely own. The truth of the matter is you can't absolutely cannot be good at everything.

So why not hone in on the things and just really own those categories and do them well? I think that's like a secret sauce.

Lyndsay: Sometimes imposter syndrome is a real thing. You have the skills, you have the patients. I mean, Don't doubt yourself. Sometimes it's best to just kind of jump it all in and just say, I'm gonna do this and I'm gonna create this for myself.

So don't doubt yourself if you feel like, you're ready, you probably really are ready. So just do it. Jump in. Let's do it.
